It's been a cold and icy last few days

Today is the first time I am making a post to my daily weather blog for my Weather and Society class. So far we haven’t had time in class to even begin lectures about weather. If you can believe it this is actually due to the recent weather conditions in our area here in Eau Claire, WI. So, to begin I will describe the recent weather conditions we’ve been experiencing in our area. There’s a lot to talk about since it’s been a typical Wisconsin winter.

Starting last Sunday, January 27, we had a heavy, wet snowfall that lead to icy roads and numerous school cancellations for the following Monday. These icy conditions followed through to Tuesday that again lead to numerous school cancellations, including us at UWEC who started an hour and a half late, which never happens. By Wednesday any smart person would’ve ridden their ice skates to class. The sidewalks were very icy which made it difficult to walk without slipping. It wasn’t a blast! Wednesday it snowed again during day. It was also windy which lead to a wet and chilly day. This finally brings us to today, Thursday January 31. Walking into class this morning around 7:50am was very cold. I thought my legs were going to freeze off by the time I got into the building. It will be interesting to see that the rest of the day and tomorrow brings. Hopefully not more snow!
